Fibroid Uterus Tumors Overview & Causes

Fibroids of the uterus or Uterine Fibroids are benign tumors ( non malignant tumors – don’t spread in the body ) of the uterus.
Fibroids in the uterus or in anyway else in the body are tumors ( round tumors ) composed of fibrous tissue and muscles.
Fibroids in the uterus ( uterine fibroids ) are richly supplied by blood. Blood comes to the uterus & hence the Fibroids via the Uterine artery. The Uterine artery is a big artery of the pelvis, it sends branches that penetrate the uterus muscles to supply it with oxygen an nutrients. And knowing the fact that fibroids arise from the Uterine muscle wall, they will also need blood supply carrying oxygen and nutrients for them to live and grow.
There’s no direct cause that some women develop fibroid uterus tumors & others do not. Fibroid uterus Tumors are mainly due to genetic predisposition. And some factors may help the fibroids to grow in size , like :
– oral contraceptives
– pregnancy
– phytoestrogens rich food products
It’s concluded the fibroids increase in size related to estrogen stimulation .
